The success of the 4th European Vocational Skills Week 2019

The 4th European Vocational Skills Week came to an end last Friday, 17th October. This EU-wide campaign brought together nearly 1,500 events dedicated to promote Vocational Education and Training (VET) in the Union. Organised by the European Commission in cooperation with the Finnish Presidency, the initiative featured a weeklong conference and workshop programme in Helsinki. As member of the European Alliance for Apprenticeships, EuropeActive joined the events and festivities at place.

Many meetings and conferences were held during the week, discussing the skills needed in working life, continuous learning, digital transformation and the quality of education provision. European top performers in the field of vocational skills received a VET Excellence Award during the week in Helsinki.

The EVSW in Helsinki provided a platform for (peer-)learning and exchange with VET stakeholders from all over Europe and beyond. With the EU-funded project Blueprint, EuropeActive is defining the role of the European Fitness sector in developing education and training that meets best the needs of professionals, employers and the European labour market.
